Interaction12 Redux Nederland
Every year, the interaction design community gathers to stretch minds, sharpen skills and inspire each other at the biggest IxD gathering in the world.
Every year numerous people are unable to attend this incredible opportunity — so therefore we're bringing some highlights of the Interaction12 conference back to you.
Program Friday, 18 May 2012
13:30 – 14:00"How was it for you?" — conference recap
Nico Druif and Aaron Houssian take you along on their personal Interaction12 trip. They'll tell you the stuff they found most useful, interesting and inspiring, giving you key learning points along the way.
14:00 – 14:45Aristotle’s Storytelling Framework for the web
Storytelling is a very powerful way of bringing a message across. When done right it’s a way of engaging the audience and guiding them into the world you create. Now it’s time to turn this knowledge into something we as designers can use to create engaging websites. Jeroen van Geel repeats his Interaction12 speech for us at the Redux event.
14:45 – 15:00Designing Play for Pigs and Humans
Both pigs and humans have a reputation for being intelligent. Despite this, it seems neither pigs nor humans are able to exercise their cognitive abilities to the fullest in their modern environments. In this session, Irene van Peer, one of the designers, introduces an ongoing project in which play is introduced in the farm pen.
15:00 – 15:30Coffee break
15:30 – 16:15Rage against the machine? « video »
Dr. Genevieve Bell takes us on a wide-ranging journey - touching on Excalibur, the Luddites, The Turing Test, Cyberdyne and much more - in the closing keynote for Interaction12. During Interaction12 Redux, we screen the keynote video.
16:15 – 17:00Imagination and Identity
The leprechaun was a somewhat neglected character in Irish Mythology, although many people know something about him, to date there was not much background material available to the public. The National Leprechaun Museum is designed to be a fun and engaging way to access the folklore and mythology of Ireland. Tom O'Rahilly, director of the museum, repeats his Interaction12 presentation, exploring how the museum is designed to help people imagine the otherworld — adapting to user experiences in a realtime environment.
17:00 – 18:00Drinks & Discussion
Building on the strong ties a lot of interaction designers made in Dublin, and expanding them to more people. From 17:00, the bar is open for just that, a beer and a lively discussion.
18:00 – 21:00Dinner
As an optional part of the redux, there will be dinner in Stadskasteel Oudaen for those who made a reservation.
